Nikki ‎– If You Wanna (1989)

Nikki (or Nikki Lee) is a Japanese-American musician, born in Okinawa, Japan and raised in Dayton, Ohio, United States.Signed to Geffen Records, he released one album, Nikki, in 1989. Three singles were released from the album: “Ooti Ooti”, “Notice Me”  and “If You Wanna” . Of the three, only “Notice Me”, written by Nikki and Paul David Wilson, was a hit, reaching #21 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #11 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart and bringing Nikki and Wilson honors from BMI as writer and publisher of one of the most performed songs of the year, 1990.

  1. As I said earlier, I discover new amazing 80’s music here, and I love it. Never knew this guy existed, and I’m a child of the 80’s. My “80’s Extended/Remix” collection is growing by the day. I hate to tell you, but there’s a glitch in the 12″ House Mix at 3:12. 🙂

  2. Notice Me is one of my favourite slow jams of 1990! Bought the 12″ and his cassette album then. Thanks for the mixes for these, EV. And is he still married to Martika?

    • I think they are, Nikki became Michael Mozart and now goes by Michael Daemon while Martika has returned to her original stage name after going by Vida Edit. The couple released two albums under the moniker “Oppera” (2004 and 2005) and created the web based television series “j8ded” (2010)
