No Way José ‎– Tequila (1985)

“Tequila” is a 1958 Latin-flavored rock and roll instrumental originally recorded by The Champs. The word “Tequila” is spoken three times throughout the tune. “Tequila” became a #1 hit on both the pop and R&B charts at the time of its release and continues to be strongly referenced in pop culture to this day.

“Tequila” has been covered many times over the past 50+ years and in 1985, US group No Way Jose recorded this Phil Harding produced version for the UK film “The Supergrass”.

The soundtrack for “The Supergrass” was released by Island Visual Arts with Side 1 featuring the more dance-oriented tracks (Grace Jones, Troublefunk, No Way Jose) and was titled Motion while the B side had the ballads and film score and was titled Emotion. The soundtrack featured a number of ZTT and 4th & Broadway acts.
