Sweet G ‎– Games People Play (1983)

Persuaded by Russell Simmons of Def Jam Recordings to begin his own record company, Sal Abbatiello formed Fever Records in 1982. His first release was “Games People Play,” by Sweet G.

The artist “Sweet G” was the general manager of “Disco Fever”, the South Bronx nightclub owned by Abbatiello and his father, the club became well known for featuring some of the biggest DJ’s in rap history including Grandmaster Flash and Luvbug Starski.

“Games People Play” was co- written by Sal Abbatiello and Kurtis Blow, arranged and produced by Kurtis Blow and mixed by John “Jellybean” Benetiz.

It was the first rap single to combine singing and rapping. The single went to # 1 in New York on WBLS, WKTU, and KISS.
