Miami Vice was a popular 1980s television series most noted for its use of pop music. Throughout its five season run, the series released multiple albums. In 1985, the first Miami Vice soundtrack was released and powered by the chart success of Glenn Frey’s You Belong To The City and Jan Hammer’s Miami Vice Theme, the soundtrack would reach the top of the US charts.
Chaka Khan followed up her incredibly successful I Feel For You album in 1984 by contributing tracks to both the Miami Vice soundtrack and the Krush Groove soundtrack (previously posted).
The Miami Vice track would be the Arif Mardin produced “Own The Night” which was remixed by Joe Mardin, Joshua Fried and Michael O’Reilly for the 12″ single release.
