Aerosmith – Dude (Looks Like A Lady) (1987)

“Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” is a song by United States hard rock band Aerosmith. It was released as the first of three singles from the Permanent Vacation album in 1987. It reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100, #41 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, #4 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and #45 on the UK Singles Chart in 1987, but was re-released in early 1990 and reached a new peak of 20. The song was written by lead singer Steven Tyler, lead guitarist Joe Perry and professional songwriter Desmond Child.

Donald A. Guarisco from Allmusic reviews the track – “Aerosmith’s recording strikes a nice balance between production gloss and hard rock energy: producer Bruce Fairbairn throws in all sorts of ear candy like blaring horns, synthesized voices, and twisty keyboard riffs without obscuring the group’s swinging guitars or Joey Kramer’s crash-and-bash drumwork. The end result is a song that rocks hard enough for fans but is catchy enough to pull in the average pop fan and this careful balance explains why “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” became one of Aerosmith’s biggest hits.”

The US Promo 12″ featured 4 remixes by John Luongo.
